Chinese Traditional medicine and its Techniques in the Veterinary Medicine
Introduction
The Chinese Traditional Medicine reunites to a set of principles and laws, which conform the foundations for the accomplishment of this form of therapy all the alive beings, according to the conceptions that have been governing the life of the Eastern inhabitants for million years.
This modality in the West is generally well-known like ACUPUNCTURE, but this denomination for the Chinese Traditional Medicine, constitutes only one forms or one more a technique (within so many that has this science) of application to correct any type of power disorder of the patient to treat.
Different physiological phenomena happen when the acupuntos are stimulated (specific zone of the organism in where it works to apply the phenomena of power correxión).
The methods for the application of the stimuli, vary of considerable way, from simplest like the application of the digital pressure to the most complex a
contemporary method by the electronic or electromagnetic stimulation, where
variables such as amplitude, waveform, frequency and pattern of stimuli
they can be fit to obtain different results. These techniques are:
* Acupresión
* Cupping glasses or therapy by emptiness
* Needles
* Thermal variation
* Ultrasound
* Acuapuntura
* Electroacupuntura
* Implantation
* Laserpuntura
* Hammer of seven ends
* Fitoterapia
* Dietoterapia

Acupresión
Or therapy by transdinámica pressure. Probably she is one of the most primitive forms of the treatment by points. Unconsciously we practiced this rascamos technique whenever we rubbed or masajeamos a painful area or a zone of prurito. The first Chinese doctors discovered 8 different forms for the therapeutic massage:
* To push
* To take hold
* To tighten
* Friccionar Girar
* To tweak
* To rub between the palms
* Slight blows
In Veterinary Medicine the acupresión is applied in exceptional situations, in special alleviating to muscular espasmos and pains. They can be taught to the proprietors of the mascots to harness acupuncture applied in the veterinary treatment.
Cupping glasses or therapy by emptiness
A variant of the acupresión is the negative pressure, which can be applied to the acupuntos by means of an old technique of application with cupping glasses. For the use 3 types of cupping glasses are described:
A type is made in Bamboo with a mouth and bases small. With an average section as soon as enlarged.
The other two globular types are potes of small mouth, elaborated with clay and glass.
A combustible solution, as the alcohol is applied inside the ignited cupping glass and. Then the cupping glass is applied with firmness on the point. As oxygen is consumed by the fire in the cupping glass, the emptiness is created and the skin is betrayed towards the interior of pote. The derivations to apply an ardent glass to the skin of our mascots can be imagined without difficulty, being this more frequent human medicine technique. Although some applications in great animals exist.
Needles
The book of Nei Ching describes 9 traditional types of needles. At the present time, for the treatments
in Small Animals are used stainless steel needles filiform of caliber 25 to 34 and 1.25 to 5 cm in length.
The correct techniques for the insertion of the needles until the prefixed depth, in the suitable angle, the application of the appropriate manipulation to the needles while they are placed and his extraction, are more difficult that what could be supposed. A suitable treatment and much practical one are necessary before trying to treat to our mascots.
In the following figure, is the evolution of the needles used for acupuncture through the years until the present time.
Thermal variation
One is based on the use of the heat and the cold:
Heat use:
The moxibustión is a very old technique, which is based on the combustion of leaves pulverized
of Artemisa vulgaris. These leaves are cured, dried and crushed in a mortar. The obtained fiber of this plant is of yellow color and to the sifted being it separates of vellón of moxa of the stems. For the direct moxibustión, vellón of moxa or tinder is coiled in the form of a cone tiny and placed directly on the acupuncture point that is going away to use for the treatment. Soon one ignites and it is left burns towards the skin, but one retires with a clamp before it can cause a thermal burn. The indirect moxibustión the indirect moxibustión is of more frequent use. Moxa can be acquired specially precoiled in a rod with form of cigarette and surrounded in a paper
treaty. Formerly she was coiled and sealed in crust of Moor. The rod of moxa is ignited and soon mobilized towards ahead and back with slowness on acupunto or to a needle already inserted in the point. The procedure takes place until the skin shows eritema light. With both techniques of moxibustión one is due to be very careful to avoid burns of the patient or the surrounding hair. These techniques are of particular importance for the treatment of chronic painful processes.
Other methods that are used the heat to stimulate the acupuncture points are the use of infra-red lamp to a distance of 18 to 24 inches of the corporal surface to warm up the placed needles and the use of the electronic thermal device developed specially for this intention. The vesicant pastes for the additional stimulation of you are areas were used in the Great Animals, but its application in the Small Animals is not recommended.
Use of cold:
The crioterapia is effective in many acute painful states. Like so, the dry ice, ice cubes have been used, freezing prepackaged chemistries and the ethyl chloride dew. The stimulation of the acupuntos with the cold is not advised for the conditions of chronic pain.

In the following figure, one is the different used techniques stops in the moxibustión:
Ultrasound
The sonoacupuntura, ultrasonic stimulation of loci of acupuncture, is recommended because
she is not invasive and it shortens the time of treatment. It is only required of 10 to 30 seconds by point. Available soundings or small heads with a diameter are up to 5 mm.
Acuapuntura
The injection of solutions in the acupuncture points is fast, simple in most of
the cases and can be the only way to treat an animal that only can be held during a very brief lapse. In the Small Animals a hypodermic needle can be used caliber 25 and of 1.25 to 2.5 cm in length. The examples of substances advised for the injection include:
* Distilled water.
* Electrolytic solutions (preferably hypotonic or hypertonic).
* Vitamins (in special B 12 and/or Cs).
* Antibiotics.
* Extracts of grass.
* The anesthetic premises.
* Analgesic (fenilbutazona).
* Antiinflammatory agents steroids and AINE.
The injected amounts vary from 0.25 cc to 2 cc, depending on the site of injection and the size of the animal.
Electroacupuntura
In order to harness the stimulation given to the acupuntos electronic devices have been devised. These
devices are connected to the inserted needles and give the electronic stimulation in percutánea form or soundings are used and an average electroconductivo to pass the stimulus via transcutánea until the underlying nervous structures. The electronic stimulation is more intense than the manual manipulation of the needles and in general it causes effects more pronouncing. The electroacupuntura is very common in the human acuterapia and animal in Europe and the U.S.A.
Implantation
One more a prolonged stimulation of the acupuntos can be reached by means of the implantation of
different materials in loci. The most common examples are the needles of pressure or grampas in the ears of the people to treat certain addictions like the tabaquismo or obesity. These techniques, rare time are used in the Small Animals. For a chronic therapy in the acupuntos to sutures like catgut or stainless steel can be applied. The modality of implantation commonest in the Small Animals is the use of metallic accounts around the hips to treat the chronic pain due to osteoartritis induced by displasia.
In the following photography, the image of canine, a male one, Collie of 5 years is observed to which 20 metallic accounts of subcutaneous implantation have been inserted him, located on the line of the meridian of Vejiga. Nótese the small marks on the zone of shaving in the spine, in where these tiny small balls are located which have a permanent action for and during the treatment of the greater epilepsy.
Laserpuntura
The use of the laser of low intensity to stimulate the acupuntos is very popular in the Great Animal
clinic, in individual the referred one to the equina practice. This modality was initiated in 1973, but the bioestimulación with laser has still not been accepted completely by all the acupunturistas veterinarians. The propulsive of the laserterapia mention good results in:
* Treatment of the pain.
* Flogísticos processes.
* Neurological disorders.
* Involution of the treatment of wounds, burns, ulcers, sinews and bones.
The laser term drift of the combination of the first letters of ?Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation?. The laserterapia of low intensity was defined as a form of intense luminance therapy that uses different frequencies and wavelengths that produce positive physiological changes within the cells, whose result is to support the treatment and to reduce or to eliminate the pain.
In the following figure, is an equipment of application of laserpuntura of frequent use in the equina acupuntural clinic.
Hammer of Seven Ends
It consists of the application of a hammer, with which percute a region of acupuntos pertaining to the affected meridian. This percución on the skin with small and fine needles generates the irritation of the affected area, producing heat, granting to him to the meridian the sufficient energy like reactivating the treatment of the chronic disease.
Fitoterapia
This is another tool more than it has the acupuntural therapy. It consists of the administration of extracts of plants, that process of a specific way denominate Dyes Mothers. Between the different actions, we found the one of being regulating of the Inn - Yang.
Dietoterapia
This technique regulates the action of the different meridians through the flavors from the foods (sweet, salty, acid, etc.), which are established by each element according to the Theory of the Five Elements. Or according to the temperature of the ingested food.
