Hipopituitarismo
It is a disease that affects the dog and is characterized by a hormone deficiency of the growth. According to the age in that they appear the clinical signs distinguish two different syndromes.
* Pituitario Enanismo: Hereditary disease that causes enanismo, cutaneous injuries and disfunciones global endócrinas. It affects from the birth, prearranged races: German shepherd, to weimaraner, to pincher and others.
The main symptoms are: delay of the growth, maintains the size and own hair of the puppies (fleecy and soft) and delays in the dental eruption the lack of hair respects the head and extremities. In addition in general they have other hormonal disfunciones, hipotiroidismo, secondary hipoadrenocorticismo, therefore it implies a serious prognosis.
* Hormone deficiency of growth in the adult dog: Disease of unknown but probably congenital cause. It mainly affects the Chow Chow, Spaniel, Pomerania and other races miniatures between the year and the five years of age.
The only sintomatología is injuries cutaneous with alopecia (loss of hair) symmetrical bilateral, hiperpigmentación in trunk, neck (affluent skin dark), thighs and tail, respecting the head and the extremities. In general the prognosis does not produce other symptoms thus is favorable and with treatment they are suppressed completely.
