primary Hipoparatiroidismo
It is a disease characterized by a paratiroides hypofunction of the own gland of a disease of the same one, exists a paratiroidea hormone deficiency (PTH) in blood and its cause is inmunomediada (linfocítica paratiroiditis). It can appear to any age although it affects in general to adult young people (between both and five years) with predisposition but in females who in males and the represented races more are Podlee (caniche), Schnauzer miniature, and Terrier.
In the feline species the appearance of this disease is more frequent subsequent to a tiroidectomía (extirpation of the gland thyroid) for hipertiroidismo treatment.
This hormonal deficiency of PTH thence causes an increase of phosphate in blood (sérico) and one hipocalcemia secondary and all its clinical consequences.
The main symptoms are:
* Nervousness associated to the exercise and/or stress,
* Face Prurito
* Espasmos
* Pain in extremities and tremors
* Rigid march.
* Appearance of atípicas convulsions (tetaniformes)
* Other frequent minus signs are ataxia, episódica weakness, depression, anorexy, vomits, diarrea, aggressiveness and cataracts (without loss of the vision)
The treatment bases on suplementacion with calcium and vitamin D, the prognosis is good if a good control stays and monitorización every 3 or 4 months of the levels of Ca in order to make sure that they are conserved within you limit them normal.
